In 2010, over 200,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be found in women. Tragically, it will claim the lives of nearly 40,000 women, leaving behind grieving families and young children. While great strides have been made in breast cancer awareness, research, and treatment, much remains to be done. Education and research will forever continue.
The Pink Series has selected UCREW (Utah Cancer Resource and Education for Women), a 501(c) 3, as the beneficiary of the Utah event. UCREW has a mission to decrease the burden of cancer by increasing awareness, education, access to screening and support for cancer patients. We are thrilled about this united effort with UCREW, who relies solely on grants and community partnerships for funding. http://www.thepinkseries.com/

Katie Visco!
Girls on the Run Salt Lake had an amazing expereince last week with a guest speaker, Katie Visco, she came into Salt Lake City to speak to some of our GOTR girls at Edison Elementry and Rowland Hall. In 2009, Katie ran 3,132 miles across America, from Boston to San Diego. Visco became the 2nd youngest and 13th woman overall to run the 3,132 miles coast to coast. The mission was to inspire people to find and follow their passions. During her run and all of last year, she stopped to speak at more than 200 venues across the nation - at schools, with groups of girls, with running clubs, and...well, you name it! She also did some fundraising for Girls on the Run and has spoken at more than 20 GOTR sites across America. You can learn more about her and her ongoing mission at www.paveyourlane.com. She talked about the importance of passion, goals, and pushing through walls. Thanks Katie!!!
